A copper alloy possible buckle plate fragment, which may be medieval in date. The object is 21.4mm long, 13.9mm wide and 1.4mm thick. It is a sub-triangular plate with three rivet holes, with part of an iron rivet surviving in one. The wide end of the plate has a concave notch in it which is probably all that survives of the hole for the pin. It is likely that the plate would have been twice as long and bent at the wider end to form a double plate. The metal has a flaky dark brown and green patina. No close parallel has been found for this object, probably because thin plates like this do not often survive.
