A silver Roman denarius of Lepidus, mint in Italy; 42 BC, (RRC, no. 495/2d; Sear 2000, p. 295, no. 1523)

Lepidus was the third triumvir with Mark Antony and Octavian in the second triumvirate, founded in 43BC. He was the least prominent of the three, being deposed and placed under house arrest by Octavian in 36BC. There are fewer than 30 dies for the obverse and fewer than 33 for the reverse, making this quite a scarce issue.
