Incomplete ansate brooch, with one terminal missing (old break). The bow is narrow (6.5 mm wide), U-shaped in section, and has a smooth steep curve. The terminal is flat in section and flares to 13 mm wide. The bow is decorated with three longitudinal rows of ring-and dot, and the terminal has five further ring-and-dot motifs. On the reverse of the terminal is a transverse pin lug with a little iron staining from the pin. Surviving length 34 mm; probable original length c. 48 mm. Although this type is dated on the Continent to the late sixth century onwards, it seems more likely that in England it is confined to the 8th and 9th centuries.
