A silver and silver gilt hooked tag which is post medieval in date. The tag is 39.5mm long, 29.7mm wide and 11.7mm thick. Dora Thornton of the British Museum writes: "Silver dress hook with lozenge-shaped backplate, recurving hook soldered at top, rectangular attachment bar with illegible mark of unusual form, not apparently a maker's mark or assay scrape. Filing marks on backplate. On the front, outer band of cable ornament, gilt border with circles in filigree interspersed with small knops. Central flowerhead with four scrolling white silver petals secured by dome-headed pin and butterfly clip to backplate. 16th Century. A variant of a familiar type reported through the Treasure Act, see example from Billesley, Warwickshire, Treasure Annual Report 2003, no. 242. Another example from Chelsham, Surrey, acquired through the Treasure Act, is in The British Museum, P&E 2005, 5-16,1. As such, due to its age and precious metal content, this object qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996."
