HORSESHOE

Unique ID: SUSS-886E45

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

An iron horse or oxen shoe. The shoe is likely to date from the late medieval period, but could be early post-medieval in date. Only part of the shoe survives, suggesting that it could be a part shoe (made in two halves for a cloven-hoof animal such as oxen. Three small countersunk nail holes remain, but no nails. The shoe has a slightly sinuous edge (curvy).
