Nine sherds of South-East Dorset Black-Burnished Ware I pottery of Roman date. Five are rim sherds, three are body sherds and one is a base sherd. The largest rim sherd is from a flanged bowl, three others are plain and everted and probably come from jars and the other is flat and appears to have come from a lid with a groove parallel to the rim. All of the sherds are reduced, although one has slightly more oxidised surfaces. Two or possibly three of the sherds have a black slip. The fabric contains abundant small rounded quartz sand and sparse larger pieces of quartz and calcareous fragments. One of the body sherds is decorated with one line of an incised design, probably hatching. Total weight: 137g
