Copper alloy brooch, conical disc type with small projections. Missing pin, chipped edge but overall unusually good condition. Pin hinged on 2 close set lugs, traces of iron ?hinge. 6 small edge projections (1 damaged) Central cone with small knob at top and slight rib near base. Low beaded rib around the base. Between this and the outer rim there is the remains of a thin sheet appliqué, in a greyer ?copper alloy, with a rib on the inside edge and slightly convex surface. Diameter 37mm, cone + plate height 11mm. Type as Hattatt no. 1431 but this normally has 'truncated' cone (whereas the smaller type with no projections can have complete cone).
