Gold now distorted finger ring. The outer face of the band has eight evenly spaced circular bosses with a circular continuous twisted rope-like motif around each one. The edges of the band are shaped, and there are opposing pairs of small rectangular knops between each circular boss. The inner face of the ring is inscribed with mainly lower case letters, which reads; 'No fancy Strang Shall make me chang.' Some of the letters contain traces of the original black enamel, but it is now missing in most of them.
Notes:
Discussion: The style of the lettering is similar to other 17th or early 18th century posy-rings such as examples from Pinhoe, Devon (2003 T271) and Bungay, Suffolk (2003 T351) (Treasure Annual Report 2003, 130-311, 271-272), although these parallels have less elaborate plain D-shaped sectioned hoops.
Inscription:
No fancy Strang Shall make me chang
