A worn, but complete copper-alloy pin probably of early-medieval date. The head is biconical with a flattened top. It has a maximum length of 7.9mm and a height of 7.5mm. Due to its state of wear and corrosion it lacks any discernible decoration. It also lacks any obvious collar below, the collar being a characteristic of Middle Anglo-Saxon pins (Geake 2001, 39). The shaft is circular in cross-section and 3.1 in diameter below the head. Over a length of c. 29mm the shaft curves slightly, before a bend of approximately 100 degrees. Just beyond the bend the lower section of the shaft (L.: 23.5mm) appears to swell from 2.4mm before the bend to c. 3mm after. The point has been slightly bent round on itself. The pin has corroded to a mid-green colour and survives relatively well. Although it lacks a collar, the swelling, bend and form of the head would suggest a probable Middle Saxon date for this object (Geake 2001, 39-40).
