Contemporary silver and lead alloy cast copy of a radiate, probably of Trajan Decius (249-51) or Trebonianus Gallus (251-3) Mint of prototype unclear
Notes:
Cast copies of silver coins were made in the 3rd century, but this is quite a late example. Most date to the Severan period, earlier in the 3rd century. Contemporary copies of silver coins of this period (c. 193-250s) are more often found as site-finds because they have been rejected from use; therefore, they are more rarely found in hoards.
