A worn and incomplete mid 16th-century (debased - 25%) silver shilling of Edward VI struck in 1550 or 1551 AD. This coin has suffered a circumferential loss.

Notes:

This coin is one of four shillings of Edward IV which form a small hoard and were thus put through the Treasure process (2004 T310; TAR 2004, 189; ref. 471). The four date between 1549 and 1551 - during the period of the debasement issues of Edward VI. It is likely that they were deposited between c. 1552 and c. 1558 AD. This record was made at a rally and may thus fall below our usual standards of recording
