A copper alloy possible penannular bracelet which is possibly Iron Age or Roman. The bracelet is not complete and perhaps almost half is missing. The bracelet is 52.8mm long, 31.9mm wide and 4.7mm thick, the main part of the bracelet being circular in section with a diameter of 4.7mm. Its maximum diameter is in the middle of the bracelet near the break, and it tapers towards the other end before widening again just before the terminal. The bracelet is not decorated except for the one surviving terminal which is sub-cuboid with two opposing faces decorated with five circular depressions on each, arranged like the dots on a die, and the other two faces having one central similar depression. The end face is not decorated and is rounded. The metal is evenly patinated and is a dark brown colour. No close parallel has been found, but examples of Roman bracelets can be seen on page 300 of “Finds from Roman Aldbrough” by Bishop (1996). It is also possible that the object is part of a large penannular brooch, though again, no close parallel has been found.
