A cast copper alloy fragment of medieval purse bar. The diameter of the bar is 5.8 mm, and the 72.9mm long fragment weighs 16.3g. The purse frame is oval in section and of concavo-convex (bowed) profile. Along one edge there are two integral lugs, each with a central hole. The bar is undecorated. The bar has a mottled, grey surface (?tinned). It dates to the late 15th or early 16th century; Ward-Perkins (1967: 159) comments that these frames were not used until the late Medieval period, and illustrates two similar examples (Plate 36) dated to the late 15th century.
