A fragment of a Roman copper-alloy nummus of the House of Constantine dating to the period AD 322-323 (Reece period 16). BEATA TRANQVILLITAS reverse type depicting a globe on altar inscribed 'VOT/IS/XX'. Mint of Lyon.
Less than 17mm in diameter
Notes:
This is one of a hoard of at least 24 nummi covering the period from about 305-325. The period approximately 313-320 is not represented. All the coins are in very poor condition apparantly from being deposited in acid soil and from subsequent disturbance perhaps by the plough.
