Fragment of Late Bronze Age scabbard chape, cast. A tapering hollow object, both ends missing. The two wide faces are concave on either side of a median arris. Length 40mm, maximum external width 15.5mm, maximum internal width 13.5mm. It is uncertain whether this of a short tongue or long tongue type (Colquhoun in Burgess and Coombs eds. 1979, 109, fig.4.7 nos. 119-21). c.950 – c.750 BC. A very similar fragment was found in Barton Bendish in 2004 (HER 17600).
