Cast copper alloy fitting in the form of a moulded lion's head; naturalistic lion face cast in high relief with a hollow centre; ears and mane form a solid back-plate 2mm thick; reverse of face evident as a sub-triangular depression in centre of back-plate; this is pierced by a centrally placed circular hole surrounded by traces of iron corrosion which may be the remnants of a screw given that a screw-thread is discernible on the internal walls of the circular piercing.
