A large iron plough shoe. Weighing 846g. The shoe has a tapering square sectioned tang, open on one side. The tang measure 120mm in length. The whole object measure 235mm in length. Integral to the tang there is a leaf-shaped head, which measures 90mm at its widest point. The head is worn and badly mis-shaped, presumably due to use. The object is extremely corroded and rusted. It is likely to date from the 16th – 18th century.
