Copper alloy bow brooch terminal dating from the Roman period. The terminal from a Roman bow brooch, possibly an enamelled hinged T-shaped brooch with a toothed edge, similar ones can be seen on page 95 in Roman Brooches in Britain (Bayley and Butcher 2004). The terminal is sub-triangular in plan with the top end being broken from the rest of the brooch. Traces of the catchplate remain on the back but the brooch has broken before reaching the pin mechanism. The terminal is decorated on one face with a line of lozenges running down the length of the brooch. The triangular cells on the sides of the lozenges are concave and would have held enamel. At the bottom of the brooch is a forward facing, protruding, circular footknob. This has two concentric circles as decoration.
