A cast copper-alloy bridle strap junction. There are three conjoined circular loops with a central integral circular boss. The reverse of the boss is flat. The loops are sub-oval in section and are 9.6mm diameter on the internal edge. There are no signs of wear on the loops. The surface has an incomplete dark green/grey coloured patina. It measures 33.43mm across two loops and is 5.52mm thick at the central boss. It weighs 9.2g. A similar example bridle strap junction was excavated at Richborough, however, this example has a cat-like face in the centre instead of a boss (Bushe-Fox 1926, First Report on the Excavation of the Roman Fort at Richborough, Kent No. 29 Plate XV). The bridle strap junction probably dates to the late Iron Age to early Roman period. Similar examples recorded on this database include NARC-565894, BERK-D89BA5, HAMP2961, SF-63FC84 and HAMP-7794C4.
