A complete copper-alloy late Anglo-Saxon strap end of Gabor Thomas Class E, (Thomas 2004, 1-3, fig 4). Class E strap ends are tongue shaped with an average ration of width to length of 1:2. It is perhaps most similar in style to his Class E, type 2, these are anthropomorphic and decorated with open work and heavy relief, however this example is not obviously anthropmorphic. It measures 43.17mm in length and 23.86mm in width, the front face is domed and back face hollow. The front face has four evenly spaced triangular shaped perforations arranged around a central circular part decorated with a circular groove. Between each perforation there are V-shaped mouldings. The attachment end has a flat rectangular projection with a rivet hole through either end with corroded iron within them.
