BOW BROOCH

Copper alloy brooch, Colchester Derivative/Polden Hill variant type. Missing foot, catchplate, spring & pin. Corroded. Remains of an iron axis bar are held in the 7mm wide folded round arm terminals. Arms have a diagonal and a terminal incised lines. Bow is D-shaped but with a slightly convex back, tapering, with a central triple groove panel (the two intervening ribs are probably notched). A 1.5mm deep slot for catchplate is visible in the break. Width 30mm, surviving length 49mm. Type as West Stow (WSW 002) no.160, also LMD 074 etc.
