A fragment of the terminal end of a Late Bronze Age sword chape. The chape is hollow and of lozenge-shape section with rounded (or worn) corners. The enclosed terminal is very slightly expanded. The chape fragment is broken at the upper edge.
Notes:
This appears to be part of a hoard (see other records). The presence of this type of chape would suggest a Late Bronze Age date for the hoard. Similar chapes were found in the Guilsfield Hoard (Savory 1980 p. 185 fig. 37).
