Medieval or early post-medieval copper alloy D-shaped loop, with a projection extending from the straight edge. The loop measures 15.2x13.3mm (16.3mm including projection) x 8.1mm, and has a central oval piercing measuring 7.3 x 6.3mm. The projection is a square, slightly out of kilter, and measures 4.5 x 4.6mm. It projects 3mm. Around the square, flanking each edge, is a deep groove. The surface is rough and the metal a dark green/ blue in colour with tooling marks. It weighs 7.87g.

The loop is unlikely to have performed a swivelling function like those on purse bars, because of its angled projection. However there are no signs of wear through suspension, except around the edge of the central piercing on one side, the edge of which has a slight overhang. This could suggest a side-mounting. It is perhaps most likely to be a handle lug used to suspend a drop handle on a vessel; see Egan 1998, no. 487, which was found in a context probably dating to c. 1270-c. 1350. A parallel from a Welsh hoard of 14th- to 16th-century vessels is also cited here.
