Cast copper alloy vessel (or figurine) leg. The leg is in the form of a birds (or animals) foot, comprised of three angled toes. The middle toe is flattened on the upper surface. There is a shorter, angled projection from the reverse of the foot, possibly representing the hallux - a birds backwards turned toe. There is a raised, moulded ridge around the front of the ankle. The lower part of the leg is present, which is sub-triangular in cross section. The base of the foot is covered in irregular vertical incised lines. The foot measures 24.88mm long by 11.94mm wide, and the leg is 22.81mm long, 5.36mm wide and 8.71mm thick. The foot has a slightly patchy mid-green patina. The leg is worn, particularly on the base of the foot and on the top of the leg. Possibly Medieval in date, or Roman - see BH-9D4386, which referes to animal vessel legs of a 4th century date (Neal, Wardle and Hunn, 1990, p.128).
