Middle or late Anglo-Saxon ansate brooch of Weetch's type II.Ai, with flat, circular undecorated terminals. The bow is of pentagonal section (with median arris on upper surface) and rises to a flat rectangular centre engraved with a saltire. Double pin lug with traces of iron pin bar, and stub of transverse catchplate. Length 30mm. Width of terminals 10 - 11.5mm. Weetch dates this type to the 8th to 10th century.
