A copper-alloy contemporary copy of an as, known as a limesfalsum, of Otacilia Severa dating to the period AD 244 to 249 (Reece period 12). CONCORDIA AVGG S C reverse type depicting Concordia seated left holding patera and cornucopiae. Prototype Mint of Rome. cf. RIC IV, p. 94, cf. no. 203b.
Notes:
Found as part of a base metal 3rd-4th century coin hoard, before the Treasure Act 1996. Due to the fact the coins are of base metal, they did not constitute Treasure Trove under the previous law, and are therefore now not classed as Treasure.
