Small sherd from a pottery vessel, possibly a small tankard or thin walled bowl, probably dating from the medieval period (1250-1400). The sherd is irregular in plan and sub-rectangular in profile. The fabric is a relatively soft fired earthen ware with a number of small angular and sub-angular grit, and quartz inclusions. The fabric colour is a uniform mid grey buff and there is a mid mottled brown-green coloured glaze applied to both surfaces. The glaze on the inner face is uneven and partial suggesting that this sherd is from the upper part of the vessel. Not enough of the vessel survives to suggest the size or form of the vessel, and the sherd itself is particularly plough worn and abraded. The sherd measures 26.7mm in length, 19.5mm width, is 4.2mm thick and weighs 3.01 grams.
