Early Medieval 'shield-on-tongue' buckle tongue of 6th to 7th century AD date. Cast in copper alloy, the tongue is shield shaped at the attachment end, the reverse of which has a trace of the attachment lug. The tongue then extends towards the hooked end, with a slight depression on the upper surface just before the end. The tongue has a dark green patina and a slightly pitted surface. It is 35.33mm long, 12.3mm wide and 7.47mm thick.
