Incomplete copper-alloy ring-headed pin, Iron Age (8th to 3rd century BC). Pin consists of the ring-head and the slightly angled shaft nearest to the head, the rest of the shaft is missing. They were used to secure cloaks or stoles at the shoulder. The surface is badly corroded but it does appear to have been decorated with ridges around the outer surface. The inside of the ring-head is plain. It measures 43mm long, 30mm in diameter, is 0.7mm thick and weighs 17g. Similar ring-headed pins can be found in James, S. and Rigby, V. 1997, Britain and the Celtic Iron Age, p. 21-22, figure 22.
