A small assemblage of ceramic vessel pottery sherds and building material dating predominantly from the Medieval period with two Roman sherds also present. The asselage comprises: a) Samian ware: Two rim sherds of Samian ware bowls weighing 12.23g. b) Brown and white glazed pottery: A small sherd of brown and cream speckle glazed pottery weighing 51g. The fabric is sandy and cream with glaze apparent on the exterior surface. There is thumb impressed decoration in a cordon on the sherd. c) Saxo-Norman ware: A small assemblage of sandy grey ware tentatively identified as being of 11th or 12th century date weighing 54g was recovered. The assemblage comprises 3 rims, 2 bodies and 1 base. The fabric is very hard, sandy and grey d) Oxidised ware: A small assemblage of sherds in an unidentified oxidised fabric weighing 49g was recovered, comprising two rim sherds and one body sherd. The body sherd possesses numerous shelly inclusions and an almost burnished exterior surface e) Unidentified sherd: A large sherd from a storage or cooking vessel weighing 54g in an unidentified fabric. The fabric is grey and very hard. It's exterior is decorated with horizontal bands of combing. f)CBM: A curved fragment of ceramic building material weighing 93g likely to be part of a modern field drain was recovered from the site.

Notes:

The Cambridgeshire Historic Environment Record has no records of any archaeological features in this area and these finds therefore represent the first evidence of Roman and Saxo-Norman activity.
