A stamped and hammered sheet copper alloy thimble of probable post-medieval date. The thimble has been squashed but is 18.7mm high and the narrow end has a diameter of about 13mm. It weighs 5.21g. It has been made in one piece with a flat top. The hand-punched indentations are in the form of a right-hand spiral, there is no tonsure and there is a faint maker's mark at the start of the spiral, in the form of a five pointed star with squared 'points'. The maker's mark suggests that the thimble was probably manufactured in Nuremberg, Germany, during the sixteenth or early seventeenth century AD (Holmes, 1988, p.3.
