A silver groat of Henry VIII, second coinage, AD 1526-1544. Obverse: Crowned portrait of Henry VIII right. Inscription reads [H]ENRI[C VI]II DI G[RA AGL] FRA […]. Reverse: Long cross fourchee over a royal shield, initials TW on each side of shield for Archbishop Thomas Wolsey. Mint of York. Inscription reads CIVITAS EBORACI. It measures 24.48mm in diameter and weighs 2.51g. North, J. J. 1991. English Hammered Coinage, Volume 2: Edward I to Charles II 1272-1662, page 112, ref. 1799.
