A Roman copper alloy nail-cleaner with exuberant neck decoration (Group/Type). In plan the nail cleaner has a circular loop which is in the same plane as the blade but bent perperdicular to it through damage. At the necked base of the loop the width of the blade increases to form square shoulders from which it tapers evenly towards the terminal end to form a sub triangular shape. The blade is decorated along each side with filed notches at the edges. The front surface is further decorated with two engraved transverse lines above the bifurcated end. 43-410 AD.
