BROOCH

Unique ID: NLM963

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Published Find published

Cremated fragment of the foot of a small long brooch. Helen Geake writes: The image linked to this record shows the heat-distorted remains of the foot of a cruciform brooch (a horse-head terminal) rather than a small-long brooch. The entry in the classification field has accordingly been changed from 'small long' to 'cruciform'. This record was created before the Portable Antiquities Scheme began using the Central Database. We are aware that this record falls below our usual standards of recording, and we are working to rectify this.
