A complete knapped flint flake, dating to the Neolithic period, between 4000 – 2200 BC (length: 27mm; width: 17.5mm; thickness: 3mm; weight: 1.5g).

On the ventral side of the flake, a slight bulb of percussion remains with an eraillure scar. No radiating ripples or ‘lunettes’ are visible. On the dorsal side, there are no arrises and no retouched areas.

A flake, according to Bond, C, J, 2004 ‘Guide to the Identification, Assessment and Recording of Lithics, Version 1’, page 202, is any material removed from a core, but not exceeding blade proportions in maximum length and breadth.
