Knapped flint leaf-shaped arrowhead. The flint is a dark grey flint which has developed a grey/blue patina. In plan the arrowhead is a leaf-shape, with the lower edge having a small amount of recent damage which reveals the natural colour of the flint. Both the ventral and dorsal surface have invasive pressure flaking scars. The arrowhead is a leaf shape in plan, which is described as a Ogival shape, and Green (1980 ‘The Flint Arrowheads of the British Isles. A detailed study of the material from England and Wales, with comparanda from Scotland and Ireland’ Oxford: BAR British Series 75 i and ii) further describes the shape as a Type 1A. The arrowhead measures 28.08mm long and 16.83mm wide. It weighs 1.74g. This type of arrowhead, dates to the early Neolithic period, 3500 to 2900 B.C.
