Roman pottery found during field walking.
miscellaneous coarse grey wares - 10 bases, 17 rims - mostly jars, some cooking pots, 31 bodysherds, 1 spindle whorl,36.35mm diameter, 5.65mm thick, weight 8.91g made on re-used greyware or posssibly Oxford ware
storage jar fabric - 1 rim and 2 body sherds, one with pinched decoration
Nene Valley - 2 body sherds, one with rouletting is coarse, but probably a local type
Oxfordshire red wares, 4th century, 1 flanged rim from bowl, 1 rim, 1 burnt bodysherd with incised ?rouletted decoration, 3 sherds of mortaria
2 grey ware rims with flanges, ? from mortaria
East Gaulish Samian, 1 bodysherds Dr 33, late 2nd-mid third century, 1 bodysherd from dish or bowl; Central Gaulish Samian, 2 joining base sherds from ?cup, stamped ----F , 2nd century .
A small amount of Roman building materials (tile fragments) were noted but not recorded. A single rim sherd might be Thetford-type ware( 9th-11th centuries) and not Roman.
