Sherd of Roman (45-400 AD) Severn Valley Ware pottery. The fabric is relatively soft and slightly powdery with a number of angular and sub angular quartz, grit inclusions. The fabric also contains considerable inclusions of mica / sand. The fabric colour is a mid buff orange and the outer colour is a lighter mid orange. There is not enough of the body of the pot surviving to give an estimation of the depth or overall form/shape or diameter of the vessel. The sherd measures 44.4mm length, 23.2mm width, is 4.9mm thick and weighs 7.13 grams.
