Zoomorphic enamelled plate brooch in the form of a stag with backward-turning head and antlers grown together to from a ring or loop. Hind leg, lower foreleg, catchplate flap and part of pin missing. The colour(s) of the enamel, which fills a round cell on the haunches and rectangular cells on the body and neck are not certain. The animal’s back and flanks are outlined in tiny transverse engraved lines. Double pin lug. Length >38mm. 2nd century.
