Fragment of a Medieval green-glazed jug. The fragment is the upper part of a double handle, shaped in the form of a human face. The face has two large circular bands for each eyes, the outer one in a rope-like form and the inner one thicker and plain. The nose is missing. The mouth area is very worn and difficult to determine. There is a horizontal groove set into a moulded upturned semi-circle. The groove is probably the mouth and the semi-circle the moustache. The moustache is grooved diagonally to depict a beard, however there is also a beard area beneath it leaving a concave oval in the centre, which is the other candidate for the mouth. There are two broken oval handles below decorated with three vertical rows of dashes. The fabric is mid grey and grit tempered. The surface of the face is covered with a mottled light green/brown glaze.
