A cast copper alloy sub-rectangular shoe buckle, with a drilled frame for separate spindle. The spindle, pin, stud chape and tongue are all missing. There is no pin recess on the frame. The buckle is a mid reddish-brown colour and the surface is smooth and shiny. These buckles date from circa 1690 - 1720. Parallels for this type of buckle can be seen in Whitehead, 2003, p103.
