Copper alloy brooch, early lozenge-shaped. Missing the catchplate end and most of the pin; some corrosion/abrasion of the surfaces. The pin is hinged between two close set lugs; iron staining may be from an iron hinge bar. The thin plate rises and broadens from the strongly moulded terminal knob to a central rectangular area with projecting flat-backed side knobs. The rectangular area contains three punched circles with deeper centre dots, and lines of punched dots along the long edges. There are curved punched dot lines on the sloping parts of the plate. Width (maximum) 31mm, suviving length 27mm. As Hattatt no. 1114, Riha 1979 no. 1640 and egs from Coddenham, Pakenham, Great Blakenham and Ashbocking in Suffolk, also SF-9D8662.
