Middle Saxon/Late Saxon strap-end of Thomas (2003) Class A, Type 5, only animal-head terminal extant, in very abraded condition. Elongated ears, protruding eyes and narrow snout, all moulded. A triangular patch of niello and a spiral of silver wire remains on the brow. 28 x 11mm. 9th century.
