Copper alloy Dragonesque brooch dating from the AD 75-175. The brooch is a very stylised example. The form has a simple flat 'S' shaped body with a widened middle section and simplified rectangular terminals to indicate the zoomorphic heads. The brooch is broken into 2 pieces; the main body section, and one terminal with the brooch pin intact. The pin is flattened at one end and wrapped around neck of brooch; the pin is complete but bent. The brooch weighs 4.51g. The large piece measures 31.9mm in length, 18.5mm in width and 1.2mm in thickness. The pin measures 32.37mm in length, 19.5mm in width 9.8mm across curved part of pin.
