A copper alloy dress fastener of early post-medieval date. The dress fastener, which has been cast in one piece, measures 35.59mm by 15.63mm by 1.76mm and weighs 2.65g. At one end there is a rectangular loop with chamfered edges, which is attached to a sub-circular openwork plate. The plate, which is damaged/miscast on one side, has a central cross and quatrefoil design within a beaded border. Some of what should be openwork holes remain infilled. The incomplete backwards curved hook projects from the other side of the plate. It has a D-shaped profile and tapers towards the end, which is broken. The back of the dress fastener is flat and undecorated.
