Middle Saxon/Late Saxon Strap-end probably of Thomas'(2003) Class B Type 1. The outside edge, which probably carried a stylised animal head, is missing. Two rivet holes in split end, one with remains of iron rivet. Immediately beyond the split end there is a group of three small longitudinal mouldings (two triangular flanking a short rib). These are followed by transverse ribbed mouldings as far as the break. Length >29mm. Width at straight attachment edge 8mm, width at break 5mm. 8th-9th century.
