Medieval rumbler or crotal bell made from thin cu-alloy sheet metal. It was attached to harness sometimes in rows set in leather cups and produced a rumbling noise as opposed to the ringing sound of a suspended bell. Medieval examples are not common, and are generally made from metal sheet with a folded over attachment loop like this one - complete examples are rare because they are quite fragile.
