A large and heavy lead disc, probably a late medieval to post-medieval token, or possibly a weight. The artefact is quite crudely executed and is inscribed with a design on both sides, with a legend in an outer circle on the obverse, and possibly on the reverse side also. Unfortunately both the legend and the design in the field on both sides are very worn. However, the obverse appears to depict a bust in the style of a Roman emperor or empress facing left. The legend is too worn to determine with any clarity. The reverse appears to bear a geometric pattern in the centre. The aretefact measures 36 mm in diameter and is 3.2 mm thick. It is 31.2 grams in weight. Lead weights and tokens come in a multitude of forms and worn so worn is not easy to identify. The token seems to thick to be a medieval or post-medieval boy bishop token. It seems more likely that this artefact is a post-medieval token of some type.
