Headplate and part of bow of a cast copper alloy cruciform brooch. The bow is convex, and comprises a sub-rectangular central section flanked by rectangular wings. A single fully-rounded knob projects from the top of the head. There is a single central perforated lug in the reverse for the attachment of the spring-pin mechanism, of which no trace survives. The bow, which is broken with a worn transverse break just over half way down its length, is 15.49mm wide. The bow has a triangular section, but with a rectangular thickening at the junction with the headplate, which was presumably repeated at the junction with the footplate.
