An incomplete cast copper alloy double loop trapezoidal buckle, dating to the 16th/ 17th century (length: 31mm; width: 20mm; thickness: 5mm; weight: 3.32g).
A flat buckle (although bent to one side), with pointed triangular ends and a lobed protrusion either end of the strap bar. There is no other decoration. Less than half of the copper alloy pin remains curled round the strap bar. The buckle is in a worn and poor condition with very little of the dark green patina remaining.
Similar examples are illustrated in Ross Whitehead's 'Buckles 1250-1800', 1996, page 82, ref nos 512-3.
